I unfortunately missed it, how'd it go?  Wanna hear from those who were there.

I thought it was fantastic and I heard a lot of people say similar things. Several people I spoke with said it was their first DE event and were planning on returning for Dreamation.

Here are some links Kate posted in the Senior Staff forum about what others are saying.

Pillage, then burn.

Everything is air-droppable at least once.

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head.

That which does not kill you has made a tactical error.

There is no "overkill".  There is only "Open Fire" and "Time to Reload!"

I may be jaded, since I had an incredible convention, but I think it was a great con. I play-tested one design, and ran a focus group for another design.  I'm a board and card game designer, so I know little about RPGs. I was able to sit in seminars that gave me a taste of the challenges faced by RPG designers. The play-testers were all eager to play and to provide valuable feedback. The game I play-tested, That's Funny!, was so successful one of the play-testers wanted to buy it right then and there. What an incredible high for a designer. Others indicated they'd support the game when I put it on Kickstarter. The focus group of parents for French Fry Tower provided me with great ideas also.
Besides my elation, my feelings about the con as a whole is positive. One of the problems many designers encounter is lack of objective play-testers. This con facilitated an objective response to new games.

Wow...
Again sad I missed it.

I love doing game design...still not sure how to get my designs recognized or picked up by publishers...but I guess that's gonna be a hurdle I'll have to figure out as I go along.  Were there any panels or conferences about that topic?

I attended some of the seminars, but not all. You'd have to check the schedule of events to see if there was one. I attended the Board and Card game seminar, which talked about the industry as a whole and the experiences of the panel in particular.
Good luck.

I just reread what I wrote about Metatopia. I'm surprised no one pointed it out to me. I"m not Jaded, I'm Biased. What a goof for a wordsmith! Sorry all, I enjoyed the con and am biased towards it.

I noticed, but I thought it was maybe an inside joke or something.

BTW, how goes Mindfields?

Hmmm.... must be someone I know or who knows me to ask about MINDFIELD....
Actually, it's doing great. Many companies are getting on the soap box I stand on and are creating web stores that sell only Made in America products. My three games are all Made in the USA and proudly say that on the boxes. I'm seeing an increase in MINDFIELD sales as a result of increased patriotism.
Thanks for asking.... and do I know you?

Lemme give ya a hint:
The M1 is both the designation for the Garand Rifle from WWII, and the Abrams Tank.

I have pilot training, but no, not a pilot.
I'm the guy who demoed for Bucephalus Games, and demoes for Plaid Hat Games.  In addition, I demo my own games (Blood & Leather, Rampaging Titan, and Dragon Chess).

Thanks for playing! I hope you play again in Jul at DEXCON. Are the games you demo RPGs or board games?
