I'll Take Game Shows for One Hundred, Please...
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:24:34 PM »

If you read the splash page for Dreamation, you will see that the B-Boys are back at Dreamation, and are bringing a new creation:  Jeopardy!
We have the game, the content, and have been through play test... and we think this is a true winner.

This will be a winner, and a lot of fun.  We will be running this tournament style, with a qualifier and three preliminary rounds, heading into a finals.

As usual, we will be giving away some of Vinny's money (in the form of a dealer room certificate, of course).  But the fun is in getting up there and buzzing in... or watching from a safe distance.

That is the Friday night event.  On Saturday we are bringing another edition of Family Feud.
If you have been one of our regular players, we look forward to seeing you again.  If you haven't been by, and like games shows, come by and join in -- or tell your friends that like games shows.

I will DEFINITELY be around for Jeopardy. Maybe I can put all the useless knowledge I have to some good use. I will do Family Feud if it doesn't conflict with my game running schedule.

Well, due to the vagaries of scheduling (ours, not Vinny's), Jeopardy! will be on Saturday night, bumping Feud to Friday Night.

Oh, and Mike -- Looking forward to having you for Jeopardy!  Very much... But just remember, it isn't just having all the useless knowledge... it being able to summon it quickly enough to buzz in before the other two slavering trivia demons (err.... ) I mean players to your right and left do so.

Should be fun.

How do you determine the three contestants who are playing Jeopardy!?

Bruce, you KNOW I'm in.

I'm looking forward to running the Star Trek category (which of course you created just for me, right?) :P

@Felicia:  No harm in letting the cat partially out of the bag.  There will be NINE players in 3 prelims of three each.
The players in each prelim  will be selected and seeded (from any players that show up / sign up) via a brief simultaneous qualifier test to be given at the start of the event.... Much like we do TWL.  Except here there are 9 players to start instead of 10... and no lottery entries.  Winners of the prelims go on to the champ round.

We try to get a bunch of people involved in our shows-- at least for a while -- and tournament-style Jeopardy fit the bill, nicely.

@ Lori:  Oh my, yes..we created MANY devious things  ... My.... Old.... Friend...

Typical growing pains for a first run for Jeopardy! ... (yes, will fix the player table.. yes, will test the buzzers... all of which will be corrected next time), but a lot of fun seemed to be had by all foir this an Feud.
As always our deepest thanks to all the Dexposure people who make this happen and help us, but a rousing round to you -- our players and audience, who enjoy what we do, and keep giving us a reason to do it.

Thanks for mentioning the buzzers.  The one I was using seemed to "freeze" a couple of times when I tried to ring in.

I had a great time and will be back!

Re: buzzers for Jeopardy!
If you ring in before the screen shows the buzzers as active, there's a two second delay after the buzzers go live before you are allowed to ring in.  If anyone would like the documentation and the ability to test the program, it's at the link below.  Just use the 0-9 keys to simulate a buzzer for that player.

Andy--

My issue was being able to ring in AFTER the latency period.  The lockout procedure was explained to us before play began.  What I experienced was a different issue.
