« on: October 31, 2005, 08:35:45 AM »

Hi All I can't believe some one has not started this already.
so here we go.

Faves:
-learning about the announcement of Avatar 3.0 after being an hour late
-Watching a group of Galahads get drunk
-Galahad deciding there is a tighter bond between them and Gadot because there symbols can both be drunk from.
-Johnathon Logan getting drunk on one glass of Rum
-Seeing Zane's face as he learns something he did not know
-being in the middle of what could have been a mass combat that did not happen.
-watching Avatars trying to learn what happened and not just killing each other.

Unfaves-Taking an hour to go 4 miles on the NJ turnpike.
-Hearing players complain that they died.
-Missing Georges Drive by
-Not GM John missing the hole event
-Not having Allyn around as much

Faves:
Avatar 3.0 and watching assistant GM faces as they realized how clever some of it is.   I'm so excited to have it in Beta already!
Frig 'em All and his quantum cherry bombs - what fun that was, and it was glorious to see everybody be such fantastic sports about the actions of a player unsettling their character.  Thank you, everybody, for such a fun scene!
Rob/Buddha/Yuri, you were particularly a fave in this situation - thank you for handling my miscommunication so gracefully. :-)   (evidently I should use more sentences and pack fewer concepts into one sentence.)

twitch:
I didn't GM anything until after the plot wrapped.  It was really odd to have the primary energy of Lugosicon wrap before dinner on Saturday, but it was really nice to be off-duty until the weekend GMs were done with everybody's attention.  I think this is a fave - variety is good.  And once I stepped onto the floor, I spent a lot of time with people I usually get very little time with.  (yay, really "meeting" Zane and realizing how deeply developed a character he is!)

Thanks to Diane, Carol, Waffles, Cappy, NuMike ... and whoever else helped with construction, planning, shopping, etc!  From what I've heard, everybody had a great time during the day on Saturday!

I'm still trying to collect a list of faves, but I do want to chime in with Avie on one point:

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who helped pull it off. Of course to the GM/plot team who sat through the nights of "Well, what about this?" - Diane, Cappy, Cat, Buddha, Alf, Alyn, and everyone else who put in their suggestions - to the people who helped out with props/decorating - the above, NuMike, and Mike Hernandez - and of course to the players who took the plot and ran with it  :) (I apologize if I forgot anyone. Right now all I can think of is "echeyakee"  :P)

Something that struck me about this year's and last year's LugosiCon is how much the players take things and really get into it. I *still* hear stories about last year of stuff that went on that wasn't written in anywhere, and I'm sure I'll keep hearing stories about this year :) I admit to mild surprise when everyone involved with the Beetlejuice section actually got down and boogied to "Day-oh". :) (I eagerly await the video of that, Barb :)) This is so important, because no matter how much effort a GM puts into a plot, if no one gets into it, it falls through.

From what I hear everyone enjoyed themselves. The LugosiCon team would certainly like to hear any constructive criticism, of course, but "hey, I liked this part" would also make sure the stuff you guys like will keep happening in the future :)

Well, there were a lot of things to do this con.  The plot wrapped up early, and I wasn't TRUELY involved in it, but I think the reasons for that were mostly because I was attempting not to metagame :)  Well, that and poker.

Faves:
What, I have to mention this?  Assistant GM!  I feel so useful!
Wining everyone's money at poker!
White Pizza that I liked!
Hanging out with everyone!
Watching everyone's faces at the 3.0 announcement
Going over 3.0 in person with people
FINALLY seeing the beta and not having to hide the rules from my roommates!

Twitch:
Having to learn the lyrics to "It's Not Unusual" (Barb, how much do I have to pay to keep that video away from this site??)
It's so long to the next convention!

Actually playing Cody about half the time. I was very surprised that someone finally dragged her out of her hole.
New projects!
“See, they are all fleeing my horrible-ness, no one likes me.” Followed by Alexander/NuMike asking every single person (even if they were ooc) if they would flee from Cody.
“No long with Stupid” button
Ice Cream Dates!
Tarot readings that are so eerily accurate that it’s scary.
Being allowed to have firearms around children.
“I was not given 20 credits to take you out to ice cream. But I’ll be right back, I need to tell the person who gave me twenty credits that I got you to go to ice cream.
Making up with people. Crying fits are fun, honest!
Alexander asking Cody to do something and her turning him down. We were both kinda relived.

Twitch:
How the HELL did that damn Delphi get her out?! I don’t get it!
Being attacked by the payphone in the ladies room.

Faves:
1. Cutthroat finally becoming "An Otter of Responsibility."
2. Every time I had a chance to shoot at Vlad, something stopped me...
3. Popping onto a battlefield, seeing corpses surrounding me, before noticing Bron standing there watching. Cutthroat then realizing he was in a Bron Radiation Area, and about to die. Solving the problem the Cutthroat Way. (Sorry, Bron.)
4. Getting to shoot at Stuff. And Things. Getting a Cool Red Cape as a reward, which promptly got stolen somehow.
5. Not getting into In Character arguments with myself for a change.
6. Getting to explain to new Avatars the Houses, and what House they should belong in, picking what should have been the best House for them, only to see them go elsewhere.
7. Characters finally realizing that Cutthroat *can* be aimed, and is more useful than they previously realized.

Unfaves:
1. Getting instantly killed for being "Apathetic" toward the situation, while attempting to Procure the Headless Horseman's missing Head. Fortunately, a Rez arrived in time.
2. Lack of sleep coupled with a headache Saturday, made the evening less enjoyable than it should.

Needed a new post entirely:

What Felegro thinks he said: "I totally agree with what the headless horseman is doing!  He's killing the useless and old and deteriorating and making the world a better place!"

What Felegro ACTUALLY said: "I dont care about what the headless horseman is doing!  He -" *SNICK* *Felegro's upper body falls to the ground*

Favs:
Telling off the Headless Horsemen and him comeing and killing Spencer, “I take it back! Don’t bring it! DON’T BRING IT!” and hiding behind Yuri.

Felegro, “I don’t CARE!” Slice.

Even though she died twice within ten minutes, not taking hole punch. Damn Spencer IS lucky!
Telling Valeria she needs to read more comic books.

Meeting more house members.

House meeting! And it was productive! And friendly!

Getting passed a baby and promptly passing it back.

“I have a spawn in my arms, please remove it.”

House Project!

Delphi forms rank and pulling out very metaphorical baseball bats.

“Look, can I talk to you? Cause I need to talk to me.”

“Seeing my gray matter then lots of red, not on my list of top ten favorite moments of my existence, in fact it sucked.

Walking the halls with Alexander and being amused.

“Tybalt Capulet, the prince of cats from one of the most famous plays in history, founded our house. Can I meet him?”

Finding a piano.

Zane: “You don’t want to go in there?”
Specner: “Why?”
Zane: “You know Frig’emall? He’s got a bomb.”
Spencer: “What else is new.”
Room: BOOM!
Spencer: “Right, well then… Is anyone alive? Do you need medical assistance?”

“Tim Burton! So going to find your ass and beat it!”

Zane: “You can sleep in my room.”
Spencer: “Why Zane, you hittin’ on me?”

Twitch:
Dying twice within ten minutes.
House Project: damnit, I have other things I need to do, but noooo I need to now write papers. Grr. (thank you!)

Faves

Alex's Knowledge of Popular culture actualy helped... YES...

Getting to use the Phraze "Make with the Shut Up" in casual Avatar conversation

Alex Is now the Proud owner of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory... Good lord what a horrible idea it is to give that boy an infinite supply of sugar.

Fish... GO FISH!

To Johnathen Logan - Ok Look, Sometimes the simplest Solution is the best... You do Not always need Shrinking Powers... and... NO DON"T DESTROY THE HEAD... The entire point of the headless horsemen is his search for his head so he can finaly lay to rest... Destroying the head would just make him eternal (Yes... I had to explain all this to him at one point... it was fun to some how being the most insightful in the room)

Well, let's start at the top...

Faves:
Rob/Buddha/Yuri, you were particularly a fave in this situation - thank you for handling my miscommunication so gracefully. :-)   (evidently I should use more sentences and pack fewer concepts into one sentence.)

A little fun and temperment go a long way, and in this case "A Long Way" is defined as the seven atom wide, five mile long smear that Yuri became.

Now, on with the faves:

Dying three times during the convention, all within eyesight of a Res.
Being res'ed three times successfully
Conspiring with the rest of Octagon and Lugosi
Realizing that the Power of Yuri's Monologue has unified Octagon :)
Playing Betelgeist
Playing the voice of the Martians
Helping make Lugosicon possible
Freaking all the mundanes out
Draining John Logan / Sean's MIND of the information regarding the Announcement of the Avatar Beta
(Backstory: I missed the announcement. Sean walks up and says "Buddha, did you hear the news?" at which point I place my hand on the side of his head, go all spooky, and say in the Yuri voice... "Avatar Beta... version three... launches next week.... " which blows his mind. :) )

And probably one of the high Favs of the Con:

Trading places with Bill!!

and for the last fav of the con...

Bringing the Phys. Rep of Esper to greet folks on Sunday, and having her be Esper-napped by no less then three people.

Tweaks:

The aforementioned misunderstanding, which was resolved roughly as quickly as it happened.

Unfaves:

The inevitable "Man I feel like Crap" after-con effects (which were not all that bad this year... YAY!)

Ok, an *actual* faves post :)

Faves
- Again, a big thank you to the whole team who helped pull everything off :)
- The return of singing and dancing Avatars! (Some of you have suspected a nefarious plot on my end that the entire point of the con was just for this. I assure you, it's only partially true ;p)
- The Horseman, and getting to play him. OH MY GOD was he butch. And I really enjoyed the sadistic whispering.
- In relation to that, as he was stalking around Friday night looking for apathetic people to kill, I couldn't find any. This is WONDERFUL (sucks for the plot, but hey, it's great to see groups of Avatars doing something)
- The Felegro scene. As I was wandering around, thinking "Dammit! I've got no one to scare!", I hear "I don't care about any of this! It's not going to matter!", and I got to stalk in and slice him.
- After his explosding seed thingy went off, killing nealry everyone in the room, and then letting him rez everyone.... Killing him again ;-)
- Cassie finally opening up to people, and people realizing she isn't just a psychotic bitch (she's other things, too ;-))
- The Octagon planning. DEAR LORD are they all insane. But clever bastards nonetheless ;-)
- The Galahad meeting. Multiple things from this:
   - Finding out that people are, in fact, willing to listen to Sigma's side of things - and then having them, instead of distancing themselves from him to improve House rep, decide to band together and stick by him (and each other).
   - Being, as we say, PISSED OFF OUR FACES. IC. Sigma and Aiskon drunk is HYSTERICAL, both to play and watch. Choice bits... Having an IC reason shout out "BUT WHY IS THE RUM GONE?", the "Yes his ass is hot. Why do you think I take up rear guard?", and "OH MY GOD THERE'S AN EVIL CAT IN YOUR HEAD!" said to John Logan, which resulted in Sigma diving under the table clutching the bottle of rum (soda) protectively. :)
   - Galahad having a goal again :)
- Cassie actually helping people pick Houses that weren't Octagon. A new change :)
- Evil plotting with Cassie.
- Just seeing people have fun, even though it was a low-population event.
- This is kind of... a great moment, but sucky circumstances. After finding out Talgar was dead, holding a quick "say a few words" thing Talgar's dojo with Sigma, Cappy, Mallard, and Rantjur. It was a really touching scene, and actually brought a tear to my eye. As a side note, no this was not the actual memorial service. That will be at Dreamation.
- Deciding Sigma needed to end the con on a happier note, walking down the hallway calling out, "Valeria!", and the ensuing fun-ness :)

Unfaves
- Missing people. No Mike Smith, no John P., and a general lack of the usuals.
- "When does this finish? I want to get dinner so I can play poker." Nothing against the poker game - I know I said the plot would be over by 8. I just don't like feeling rushed by the *players*.
- Watching an out-of-game ninja. Fortunately it was caught.
- It's over and there's no more until Dreamation *sniffle*

Carol,

For the record, I asked Diane at what time she thought the plot would be wrapped specifically so that I did not plan a poker game too early, and she told me 8PM. I asked if she was sure, and she said she wanted to make sure it wrapped at 8PM because she wanted the party to start on time. In actuality, we still waited an extra hour before starting the game.

Vinny,

For the record, as I said in my previous post, my problem was not with the game starting at 8 because I know that's when we said the plot would be wrapped by. It was with certain *players* in the plot rushing me at *6* because they wanted to get dinner before the game.

If someone is so concerned about making a poker game, why bother playing in the plot? Or, why complain if it isn't going fast enough for you? Why not just leave? ("Sorry, I have an emergency in my terrirtory. Something's trying to blow it up. I have to go.") This is a concept I don't understand.
