Cake and eating it too principle.  Not very hard to grok.  More hard to accept in quasi decent interpersonal ettiquette.

Vinny,

For the record, as I said in my previous post, my problem was not with the game starting at 8 because I know that's when we said the plot would be wrapped by. It was with certain *players* in the plot rushing me at *6* because they wanted to get dinner before the game.

If someone is so concerned about making a poker game, why bother playing in the plot? Or, why complain if it isn't going fast enough for you? Why not just leave? ("Sorry, I have an emergency in my terrirtory. Something's trying to blow it up. I have to go.") This is a concept I don't understand.

Well, I'm sure that some of them are the same people who complain about not having enough plot or not being involved enough in the plot.

Sometimes I have a feeling that every complaint someone makes about not being involved enough in plots boils down to "There is no plot that specifically puts me into the center of the action so that I can tell everyone what to do and get a cool item which will b ecome the most powerful artifact in the Nexus". Once they realize that this is yet again another weekend where that pipe dream doesn't come true, poker becomes the priority :)

For the record, our dinner group waited until "major" plot was wrapped up. We all wanted to go out, and a couple of us working on plot stuff asked them to wait. One was mentioning dinner, but it wasn't completely due to Poker. The need to eat regularly scheduled meals (diabetic reasons) was a larger factor. If food had been there, instead of a drive away, Cutthroat was going to go hunting for his red cape, that he had claimed as a trophy.

Dinner waited for Plot, Poker waited for Dinner, and in the end, all was good...

Well as long as I'm here, a short one...

Fave: Getting to see everyone and experiencing the Wonka TeeVee

UnFave: Post-Surgery pain suddenly kicking in four days later.
