Standing in the Academy's  main training area Hal waits paitently for his housemates, friends and students to arrive.

(OOC question: Are you talking about the venetian fencing academy or some other academy?)

[Zane]

   Standing at the doorway with his head just into the shadow falling across the doorframe. " Sensei, may I enter"? comes a familiar voice from the shadow.

::Now kneeling  in the center of the open courtyard Hal Rises to his feet and extends an open hand.:: 

“Welcome Zane, you are the first to arrive; we will wait a little longer then start. Would you like to join me in meditation?”

It is at this moment that Spencer stumbles through the doorway, narrowly missing Zane. “Sorry I’m late,” she puffs. “I had to open the shop before I came over.”

The woman pulls at the long sleeves of her Venetian day dress and looks mildly flustered. “It is so hard to move in this thing. I’m always tripping over the skirts.”

[Zane]

Stepping fully into the courtyard, Zane says "Greetings M'lady Michigan. I believe were are going to open with meditation and a calming excersize before we begin. Would you like to join us? Assuming that I am not overstepping my bounds as a student by extending the invitation." Zane approaches the center of the courtyard and awaits futher instructions, from the Sensei.

[Nema Dakkar]

There is a ping sound that reverberates in the area.  A moment later a fresh sea breeze follows.  As if stepping from the shadows Captain Nema Dakkar arrives.

"I sensed my presence was required here.  Is that not so?"

[Hal Rayner]

“Welcome all, we are still waiting one on or two house mates, if they do not arrive soon we will have to start with out them. They will be allowed to join us when they arrive, though I am uncertain if the will be able to keep up.

Specner please relax. You are on time.

::two of the Venice servants enter the courtyard::

Speaking to the gather members of house Delphi, “If you will please follow” gesturing to the servants that have just arrived, “ they will show you to the Locker room?. What would they call it in this time period; I guess locker room will have to do? As well as supply you with proper close to train in.”

"Train in sir?"  Dakkar raises an eyebrow.  "Perhaps you will explain yourself before I follow anyone to any location for any reason."

At the last gathering I offered several members of the house lessons in the Martial Arts, as they were thought to me by my uncle Bruce. Since then I have offered this to every member of the house, If you wish to join us you may. We will be starting shortly.

"My silence is one of choice and habit Master Rayner.  Rest assured I am of your house as are a number of others who have also been silent."  She smiles.  "Just because you do not hear a voice does not mean there is no presence."

Gesturing to the entryway she continued.

"I will attend you in watch to mark well your styles."

Andromache walks up to the group. "Kalispera everyone." she smiles. "I finally got the girls to go down for their nap. I was afraid I might miss training all together."

“Andromache, I’m glad that you could make it. Please join the others in the locker room, and when everyone returns we will start.

:: As everyone returns from the locker room Hal greets them one at a time.::

“Welcome every one, thank you for joining us in this class. We will start with the most basic of instruction and that is respect for your self and your opponent, in a true fight you will not show your opponent respect in the same way that we will show during class. In a real fight you will show your opponent respect by not foolishly under estimating them.”

::Hal faces the group and bows at he waist maintaining eye contact with the group::

“I will be instructing you in Aikido.
Aikido is considered to be a non-aggressive style, as the Aikido student does not instigate the attack. The basic principle of Aikido is “Do not fight force with force”. Aikido uses very few punches and kicks. Instead, the attackers force is redirected into throws, locks and restraining techniques. Size, weight, age and physical strength differences of the opponents play only a small role, as the skilled Aikido practitioner is able to redirect the attackers energy, keeping his attacker in a constant of unbalance. Aikido training Can the use of several martial arts weapons such as Tento, Jo and Bokken.
Now let us start, who would like to demonstrate their current skills by attacking me.”

"What style would you then chose if Aikido is truly purely defensive?"

Dakkar's expression is one that is purely and genuinely amused.

Taking the mat still in her uniform she bows her left hand covering her fist then stands upright and moves at 1/3 speed and allowed Hal to act as he would.  (There is no call or pull unless GM calls for it ...she is being the demonstration "dummy" and only working on the fall so Hal may show his point.)
