New Scheduling Block: "Bad Anime, Bad!!"
« on: November 29, 2005, 03:03:57 AM »

Masochists Rejoice!!

Based on the outcry on the forum and the astonishing popularity of my "Bad Anime, Bad!!" panel at Anime USA I will be adopting a programming block to showcase some of the most vile productions I can get my grubbly hands on. And I'm not talking about shows that are just badly dubbed into english. I mean titles that will cause weaker folk to spontaneously combust!

I'm still undecided but I'll probably kick off this block at Dreamation 2006, starting with "Magnos". However, I am always in the market for other horror-shows. If someone knows a title I'm unaware of please bring it to my attention and I'll see if I can get a copy.

Here's a list of other possible titles that are currently in my possession...
Magnos
Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned
Darkside Blues
Attack of the Supermonsters
Vampire Wars
Battle Arena Toshinden (as if the anime wasn't bad enough, they cast Apollo Smile in the dub!)
Legend of the Crystals - Based on Final Fantasy

Do be aware that the staff of the Anime/Video lounge takes no responsibility for any psychological or physical trauma that may (and probably will) occur during the screening of these titles. You've asked for it, now reap what you have sown!  ;D

The work I do is not JUST anything.  If it's JUST anything, it's JUST another programming block like "Nostalgia @ Noon" or the "Saturday Morning Cartoon Revival". >:(

I've been doing the "Bad Anime, Bad!!" panel at conventions since 2001. I eventually took it over from my predecessor who had been doing it for years himself. And Tony is correct. It would be the same if I gave out prizes. The Cherry Hill Experiment, God love them and their work, is a test of mental skill and endurance. This programming block is a response to the self-destructive outcry of others and I happen to be in a position to indulge them. Giving the block a name serves to give fair warning to those with weak constitutions.

As a veteran of the "Bad Anime, Bad!!" block (At Otakon 2000) It is a VERY apt title

I still have scars

My question is: Will you make sure to tell everyone that this is the bad Anime. Some of us will not be able to tell the difference. LOL Ducks to avoid thrown objects from the Anime crowd.

BAH! Beneath my notice! ;)

But I will remember that next time I see such gems of american animation like "Dr. Katz", "Home Movies", "Tom Goes To The Mayor" and yet another agonizing installment of "The Land Before Time".

Assuming that you can't do bad hentai (which is most of it...), I have only five words for you:

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Original Ending

After knocking my magic 8-ball off the shelf communing with the mysterious Forces of the Universe, I've chosen the next title that will most likely get me drawn and quartered for "Bad Anime, Bad!" at Dexcon 2006.

"Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned"

White Wolf players and poser-goths vampire enthusiasts, beware of this assult on one of literary history's greatest classics. Adapted from Marvel Comic's "Tomb of Dracula" series by Toei Animation and horribly dubbed by Harmony Gold (the b@$tards who turned "Minmei" into a dirty word!), this crap-tastic turkey will make Stoker fans want to kick a puppy or two, therefore no pets will be allowed during the screening of this film.

So please, enjoy!

...oh, and you've been warned! Double Exposure will take no responsibility for any mental or physical trauma you might (and probably will) endure while knowingly and willfully exposing yourself to these toxic movies.

Till then, be seeing you...
