So we're in the final countdown for Collateral Damage. It releases this coming wednesday at stores everywhere. Personally, I'll be picking up my brick on thursday just because I'm loaded with classes on wednesday. They still haven't released the stats for Spectre or Parallax, but it has to be only a matter of time, since the first convention where they'll be available is fast approaching. As I said before as soon as those are up I'll have them here for everyone.

PS-check out the Giants thread as they released the last two figures the other day.

So Parallax has been released...

I and many others have to admit to some disappointment. On their own, the stats and powers are pretty good, but for the hype and what many believe Parallax should be, it is not worth the massive 270 points. Personally, I still like the figure, but I have to agree that it's not all that it could have been.

First, there is no team ability. Now while I didn't think he deserved the new Quintessence TA (about which we still know nothing), I thought at the very least Mystics would have worked...but he's completely deprived of an extra ability. Likewise his range of only 8 with two targets is sort of a let-down as well, but that's easily dealt with. He starts with phasing, switches to force blast, then back to phasing. The lack of a move/attack power hurts, but I don't mind it as I barely use those myself in my teams and I get along fine. He also switches between telekinesis and psychic blast with a very satisfactory attack value progression. Also on his last click he has pulse wave for a final shot at whoever's around. He's got the full complement of damage reduction powers: impervious, invulnerability, and toughness, and ends up with two clicks of willpower. Finally, his impressive damage is reinforced with both outwit and probability control, which can help out immensely.

Once again, he may not be fully worth his 270 points, but he's close in my opinion; and I know I still want one.

Hopefully soon they put out the Spectre.

So apparently they weren't done yet. I came across ONE MORE figure for Collateral Damage, and I have to admit to it being pretty kewl, so here you go.

Just like they did with the Dark Knight Detective from Icons, Wizard magazine is offering a special figure if you subscribe or renew any of their magazines (Wizard, Inquest, etc). The figure? Superman robots. Throughout the years Superman has built some robots in his likeness just because he realized that he couldn't always be everywhere at once (sounds to me like the Kingdom Come Batman with his Bat Sentries). These robots are considered experienced figures (as opposed to uniques) for only 100 points, so it is possible to have multiples on your team in high point games. With the Superman team ability they're already a threat, but then you add in their powers. A click of hypersonic speed starts things off, accompanied by super strength and toughness that both stick around for nearly the entire dial. After the HSS he switches to charge for two clicks followed by flurry for two clicks. Finally on his last slot he's got running shot along with psychic blast for a parting strike against anyone within his 8 range.

There you go, make your subscriptions now.

Ok, so apparently they weren't finished with Collateral Damage, as there is one more figure that has just been released for purchase: The Man of Steel!

This is a special version of Superman that uses the NGN sculpt, but has a different set of powers based around the recent movie. This version is all about protecting his friends.

At 200 points with the Superman Ally TA, MoS has the basic makeup of a Superman figure, but with the prominent addition of defend on his opening and closing clicks. The first slot starts with an 18 defend, while his last three go from a 17 up to 19 defend. In between those he gets more aggressive with two slots of impervious and four of invulnerability, while his defense stays decently high. He's got a full dial of super strength, which is to be expected. He also starts with a single click of hypersonic, then switches to charge for two clicks, force blast for two, flurry for three, and then back to force blast for two more. Finally on his second and third click he has CCE to supplement his already high damage value, just in case there isn't an object handy. With an 8 range, all in all this isn't a bad figure at all.

You can order it today right here: http://www.heroclix.com/manofsteel
