Hi guys, I'm hoping someone on the board could give me a lead.  I had a customer come into the store today looking for a "White Wolf" tabletop play group, and I'm assuming he meant World of Darkness.  Unfortunately, Monmouth RPS is very D&D-centric.  While I don't consider that wrong in any way, the vibe I got is that he hasn't played a lot of RPGs and WoD is the only thing he knows.  Depending on the game he was playing, going from a White Wolf game to a D&D campaign could be like going to the movies for a Merchant-Ivory Production and have them switch to Bad Boys II in the third reel. Shocked (He actually said he was a bit intimidate by what he's seen of D&D because "there seem to be a lot of dice.")  I know there used to be a group that LARPed in Red Bank, but after the RB Gaming Club lost the mini-mall it seems like a lot of people went their own way.  Is there anyone in the area still playing White Wolf/WoD and willing to give the guy a shot?  I'm keeping his contact info offline so it doesn't get spammed all over the interweb.

(Also, feel free to kick this over to Tabletop.  I wasn't sure if the general call was worthy of Con Suite, and I'd honestly like to give the guy the best exposure he can get.)

The group that used to LARP in Red Bank was what later became SYS. And since Jarret and the rest fo the crew down at the Gamers club left, I'm not even sure where to direct him. Sad

As far as I'm aware (and I've been out of the area for almost 3 years now), the people who were really into WoD was the Gamers Club and the SYS guys.

Just trying to fill in blanks.

SYS are the guys who do the LARP at the DE cons, right?  Do they have a website?  Maybe a few of them still tend to their roots in the area.

I dont know about table top games, but I do know there used to be a LARP game centered in Red Bank, run by Renaissance Games up until late last year.  Apparently the game is now finished (though others have resurrected similar games under different names).  The game itself used modified table top rules for their larp, as does PDQ's WoD games (PDQ is the only other group I can think of at the moment that is closer and currently running games).  PDQ also runs other games like Vampire: the Masquerade and Vampire: the Requiem.  Their V:tM game "Distant Mirror" is probably one of the best around and meets at the Fleetwood mansion in North Plainfield (just 30-40 minutes from the Red Bank area) every three to four months.  You can find more info about their games and I think links to games run by people that attend their games on their websites:

SYS used to do LARPs with DE up until DEXCON 8. I’m nearly positive that they are all up in the New Brunswick area now and have completely relocated out of Red Bank.
