A Shrubbery!

http://www.xtremenotebooks.com/

Jut ordered an Xtreme 909V Reactor for myself - $3K for a notebook that would cost $5K at Falcon NW or Voodoo PC.  That includes 3.4 P4, 2GB DDR2, 80GB SATA, Dual-Layer DVD-RW w/ Lightscribe, and... nVidia 7800 Go for Graphics.  *drool*

Yes, this is a desktop replacement.  Wink  We'll see how well it holds up to Ogrimmar during peak hours with all the graphics turned on...

Dalaran FTW.  Roll Heavy.  Roll Hard.  Roll Horde.   The Guild is "The Nameless Ones".   Look up Xardos, Esper, Palehoof, Malles, Saija, or Garrun.

As a reference point, the same laptop would cost an additional $2,000 from Falcon Northwest.  I don't need to pay 2K for a paint job and tribal tattoos on my laptop (Althoug the briefcase is pretty spiffy...  Wink )

Will do.  Any particular class of which you guys can use more?

Well, I had what I am currently viewing as a bad customer relations experience today.

The notebook was listed as "Shipping Soon" on thier status page as of last Tuesday (11/1/2005).  On Thursday (11/3), I called and asked when it would actually ship, and was told specifically that the vidoe card was in the machine, and ready to go - it just needed to be shipped out. (The video was a new release from nVidia, and was not released at the time I ordered the laptop - it was slated to come out 10/28.)

I checked again today, and it was still listed as "Shipping soon."  When I checked with their support staff, they told me today that the video card had not shipped yet, and was not in the laptop.  Checking the site, it's not listed as being available until 11/15 now, and I was told I would not ship until 11/21.

I don't mind delays, and can understand these guys are not at fault for nVidia's delays.  However, they specifically told me on 11/1 that the card had been tested and was ready to go, and that the notebook would ship "any day now."  I don't see 3 weeks later as "any day now."  Angry

We'll see what they do as an apology, if anything.

I got the notebook in.  They didn't do anything to compensate for the issue of lateness / misleading me, but damn... this thing rocks!  No technical issues so far, it's running smoothly & well.  For those familiar with WoW, I can run Molten Core with all the graphics cranked all the way up, and only have a bit of lag.  Knocking them down a peg makes it smooth as silk.
