DC Heroclix: Spectre!!
« on: March 02, 2006, 06:05:08 PM »

Ok, the stats for the Spectre himself aren't out yet. Hopefully soon. However, they have released the stats and rules for the Angry Spirits that he'll be spitting out during his special scenario. These are some very interesting rules folks, and I for one am very intrigued.

First, Spectre spits one of these guys out every time he gets damaged. Also, he spits one out after all of the players have taken their turns. There is a maximum number of spirits allowed on the field based on Spectre's power level. The fourth dial on the Spectre determines the spirits' stats, but it's completely random. At the beginning of the game 2d6 is rolled, and the dial is moved a number of clicks equal to the result. Then, any time a spirit is damaged (and thus killed), the dial is moved a number of clicks equal to total damage dealt. So there's a completely random chance that the spirits will have different powers.

Other things in the spirits' favor: they don't receive action tokens, they don't take pushing damage, and are immune to incapacitate, mind control, and support.

And now for stats. For movement the numbers can go from 6 to 11, with an assortment of hypersonic speed, phasing, stealth, plasticity, and flurry. Attack goes from 7 to 12, with smoke cloud, energy explosion, blades, psychic blast, poison, and incap. Defense is 13 to 17, with impervious, invulnerability, toughness, energy shield, and super senses. Finally damage can go from 0 (that's when they've got incap) to 4, with close combat expert, ranged combat expert, and exploit weakness. Not to mention they have a 6 range with dual target. That's quite an assortment of powers just for the servants of the almighty Spectre. If this is any indication, I actually can't wait to see the man himself.

And now the big announcement regarding the new Quintessence team ability...

*drumroll*

It's simply the DC equivalent of the Power Cosmic: no pushing damage and powers can't be countered. A lot of people were hoping it would be something new and different, but I can't say I'm surprised this is it.

Also, in regards to the angry spirits, the big S is going to come with 8 of those tokens, which is most likely the maximum that you can have on the field.

Stay tuned eventually for Spectre's stats, whenever they get released.

Two words:

Holy...Jeebus...

If you couldn't tell the Spectre's stats have just been released, and in my personal biased opinion (since I prefer DC to Marvel) he makes Galactus look like a kitten. The rules for this guy are just ridiculous. I can't wait to start running scenarios with him. First off, I was right in the last post, 8 is the maximum number of angry spirits that can be released when using his strongest power level (veteran), 6 with his experienced, and 4 with his rookie. Spectre's point values are the same as the big G: 600, 1200, and 1800. He ignores almost every power under the sun, and then some. Most of his rules are very similar to Galactus, but I'll outline the basic changes below.

He's got phasing, but in scenario rules he doesn't move so that's ignored.
He ignores the Mystics team ability and all similar TAs.
He's got mind control, and never takes feedback damage from it no matter the combined point cost of his targets.
His Multiattack power only gives him two actions as opposed to G's three, but he's got the angry spirits, so it evens out.

As if that weren't enough, The Spectre's stats are simply inhumanly obscene. He starts with 20 speed, 15 attack, 21 defense, and 9 damage. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. He's got the powers to back up those numbers. Phasing dominates his speed powers, with some instances of flurry and mind control. Psychic blast similarly dominates his attack, but with more diversity in his other attack powers: incapacitate, telekinesis, pulse wave, and energy explosion. He's got all three damage reducers: impervious, invulnerability, and toughness, and his defense never drops below a 17, and in fact ends on an upswing into 20. Finally his damage powers switch back and forth between outwit and exploit weakness, with a short episode of probability control near the end.

Between the stats, the angry spirit tokens, and the absolutely gorgeous sculpt, this thing is definitely a must have for HC players and comic collectors alike. I still want one, and really can't wait to start running his scenario.

I am now in the possession of a Specter, and Ow my god.

It is about 1 quarter of an inch taller then Galactus and looks cool as hell.
The angry spirits dial has no end it just keeps turning.

In a head to head battle with Galactus it has been the first figure to score a hit usually wins.

I am now waiting for a store to have an event with a 1000 point build value.
