Roberta Samuels, Knight Games Con Mom

Roberta Samuels, beloved "con mom" to old Knight Game attendees, and real mom of DE senior staffer David Samuels, passed away yesterday.  Those who attended KG will have no trouble remembering the warm, generous lady who worked registration and distributed snacks and sodas from the goodie cart to the attendees.  Those of us who were lucky enough to know her better will remember a loving woman -- and a fund-raising bulldog.  We would not have been able to keep KG as a charity con as long as we did were it not for Roberta's support.

Services will be some time Friday, March 24; we'll release more information as soon as we have it.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., at I.J. Morris, 1895 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn (near Ave. L).

Because many have asked, flowers are fine, or you can make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Roberta's name.

So sorry to hear about this.  I liked Roberta.  Con mommy/bulldog is an appropriate title.  Very tireless in her approach to make sure gamers got there munchies and deliver them slot after slot to gamers who didn't want to leave there seats.  My condolences.

We were only able to attend the very last KG, and I'm not sure if we got a chance to meet David's mom; she sounds like she was truly a powerhouse!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to David and everyone in his family.

Thank you for the nice tribute to mom, I know that she would have liked it.  Although, knowing her as do, and how modest she could be, she would have said that she didn't do enough.

She loved to go around and visit with the gamers bringing them snacks.  She said it made her feel good that they were all taken care of with the munchies.  She would've gone to the tables every 10-15 minutes with more snacks if we let her because she wanted to make sure that everyone had everything that they needed.
