WARNING - IMPENDING, OPINIONATED RANT
Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury,
Am I the only one here that is saddened by the notion that WotC will not be actually producing this My Little Pony RPG? I think it displays WotC's absolute lack of vision that they made this into a joke. To take Fox's parpahrasing of the cigarette industry policy of "hook 'em while they'r young", a MLP RPG could spawn an entire new market of young female gamers. The young female gamer then grows up, and they have a new market of women gamers, a classically underrepresented demographic.
And beyond that, the D20 system is all but a minatures game at this point. The MLP RPG could simply and easily serve as an aid to enhance the experience of the girl playing with her dolls. Yes, you're fucking right I said it. Miniatures are not action fricking figures. They're dolls! Dolls armed with swords, knives, bows, and destructive magic, but still dolls! Get over it. So instead of the ponies shooting up a cave full of orcs, they attack the darkness with their magic missile of love and happiness! HOW IS THIS A BAD IDEA?!
Sigh, and from there we could have had a Care Bears and a Rainbow Brite RPG. Hell we could take Spycraft and mod it out to be the Totally Spies RPG. This is such a loss. So all you guys that can't find a gamer girlfriend, write WotC and tell them just how stupid they are for not putting this project on the presses for real. Tell them that you are angry that you can't go out there and wrinkle your pony nose, and use your flowery pony magic, at the heartless fiends, with your future gamer wife to be!!
