Dreamation 2012 in the can, now to look forward
« on: March 01, 2012, 11:53:32 AM »

Hello one and all! Buddha here, with some great news and some predictable shockers, along with a surprise or two!

The dominant force this year was, once again, Ponies. Able to fill a room at any time of the day, even when used as filler between two scheduled events, it is a force to be reckoned with. Though this year, completely by accident, something arose from the ancient ways to contest My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's ability to fill a room, and that slumbering eldritch form was... Earthworm Jim.

Yes, completely from left field, the cartoon about a worm in a supersuit and his faithful sidekick Peter Puppy all but demanded the attention of the crowd. Therefore, it will be playing during Dexcon, for all those who wish to look upon a part of their childhood and wonder "What was I thinking back then?"

"REDLINE" ran and ran well, and was well received. The epic combination of intense visuals and a soundtrack that is Dangerous To Drive To(tm) makes this movie something that needs to be seen to be believed, and since not everyone got a chance to see it, and it was very well received, it will be playing again at Dexcon.

It's too early to begin putting the final schedule together now, unless I want to beat Electronic Gaming at the Who Can Deliver A Final Schedule First game, but it's never too early for suggestions. So if there's something you think is awesome, that other people would think is awesome, and it has nothing to do with Disney, and it isn't wholesale pornography, let your voice be heard. I'll entertain any suggestion that meets the criteria, but don't take it personally if we don't air your suggestion. We have a lot of recurring favorites such as Wakfu or the eternally scheduled My Little Pony, and they enjoy the slots that they've got coming to them.

So throw some suggestions my way and we'll see what sticks!

Ok one of my favs that I would love to see is Appleseed and/or Appleseed Ex Machina,. I blame the NYIT students that hang out at my place alot who brought both and got me hooked on them. I would think given the amount of violence they would be later in the evening showings.

Some thoughts...

Highschool of the Dead is hilarious crack full of zombies, blood, and all the T&A in the world (I'm not kidding on that last part).  It's totally fan service.

I always like the old classics, with Cowboy Bebop being one everyone should see at least once.

We've shown High School of the Dead before, and I'm very familiar with it. It has, what can only be described, as an EMBARRASSING level of Fan Service. If we show it, it has to be shown at a later time slot, specifically because it's not precisely kid-friendly, and it's not my job to warp the mindsets and perceptions of children.

That's CNN's job.

Maybe you could show some old cheesy Sci-Fi stuff from Irwin Allen like:

Pillage, then burn.

Everything is air-droppable at least once.

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head.

That which does not kill you has made a tactical error.

There is no "overkill".  There is only "Open Fire" and "Time to Reload!"
