Morning Family friendly roleplay at Dexcon 20?
« on: April 02, 2017, 10:55:28 AM »

Ok, I am one of those with the Legendary Realms 3D terrain as eye candy for my games.  However, I do let players (even younger one with parent or other responsible adult supervision) play at my table.  Previously it was D&D mostly, but now to be less violent in nature I changed to a "Cat" game variant called Call of Catthulhu.  It is all about cats as the players and all other things as the non-players.  Last year was totally full tables from those that did the Kickstarter (as did I), but never played the game or seen the game played at a convention.

So if you have 4 year olds and older, they can play and others can be at the table as long as the others realize it is a Family friendly table.

Attempting to be mornings on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Dexcon 20.

Will be running at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 10:00 A.M. Sunday.  Thanks!

Thanks for the head's up! I'm usually running a family event at the same time slot, but if the schedule works so that me and my six year old can make it, we'll be there :)

I'm including some other great family friendly events below:

S0896: The Incredible Llama Toss. Join the staff of Double Exposure as we ride herd on an event that has been going on since the turtles have come home and as usual, we still don't have a clue what we're doing. Saturday, 8:00AM - 9:00AM; One Session; All Materials Provided. Beginners Welcome; Very Silly, 18 & Over ONLY.

L0023: "Fort Builder/Capture the Flag" presented by Robert Dixon. Choose your team, build your fort, and capture the flag! Players will have a set period of time to build their base with materials provided (boxes, duct tape, PVC, etc.) and then will have to defend their base from enemy attack while stealing the enemy flag, and also reacting to surprise events happening during the rounds. Played with combat safe boffer weapons and Nerf Weaponry. A stupid, fun game, not meant to be taken seriously. Friday, 2:00PM - 6:00PM; One Round; All Materials Offered. Beginners ONLY; Silly, Under 18 Requires Parental Clearance.

B0473: Dimension (Training). An Envoy Event! Dimension is a fast-paced, innovative puzzle game that takes place in three dimensions with 60 colorful spheres. All of the players play at the same time. Everybody tries to position the spheres on their trays to earn as many points as possible. The task cards indicate how the spheres must be placed to earn points. Complete these tasks while racing against the timer. You get a point for each sphere you use and a bonus token for using all five colors, but you lose two points for each task card you don't follow correctly. Prove to your opponents that you are the master of multi-dimensional thinking! This is a special training session intended to prepare players for the Northeast Regional Championship. Thursday, 11:00AM - 1:00PM; One Session; All Materials Provided. Beginners ONLY; Fun, All Ages.

B0513: The Game of 49 (Training). An Envoy Event! Starting with $49 apiece, players in The Game of 49 bid to buy spaces on the 49-square (7-by-7) game board. Randomly drawn number cards are auctioned one at a time, with the highest bidder placing a chip on the matching board space. Wild/Payoff cards give players a choice of where to place their chip and also award cash to all players for their chips on the board: $7 per chip, with a payoff maximum of $49. The first player to claim four spaces in a row, in any direction, wins. This is a special training session intended to prepare players for the Northeast Regional Championship. Thursday, 2:00PM - 4:00PM; One Session; All Materials Provided. Beginners ONLY; Fun, All Ages.

M0553: The Novice Miniatures Painting Workshop. Always wanted to learn how to paint your own miniatures? Having trouble trying to bring your work to the next level? Tired of having miniatures fielded on a table in just primer? Well come and sit in or take part in our workshops! Paints, brushes, and miniature provided! If you like in our advanced workshop, bring current work or continue the same piece as we go into further detailing and special effects. Children are enthusiastically welcome to take part! Don't forget, you get to take home your free mini! Thursday, 6:00PM - 8:00PM; One Session; All Materials Provided. Beginners ONLY; Very Serious, All Ages.

S0642: "Two Hours of Non-Structured Block Building Time" presented by Robert Dixon. Everybody likes to play with blocks! Bring some blocks and hang out at a table with other people playing with blocks. Wooden blocks, LEGOs, DUPLO, Lincoln Logs, Capsella, Tinkertoys, whatever! Some blocks will be provided, but also bring your own! Thursday, 12:00AM - 2:00AM; One Session; All Materials Offered. Beginners ONLY; Silly, All Ages.

S0480: "Magikarp is Beautiful" presented by Janice Mallardi, Andrew Sirkin. Paint your fish to the best of your ability. Your fish will be judged on quality and how much fun you had painting! Paints, brushes, and fish are supplied. Fun for all ages! Thursday, 1:00PM - 2:00PM; One Session; All Materials Provided. Beginners Welcome; Silly, All Ages.
